The Bandeirantes Communication Group has secured exclusive Brazilian rights to telecast the RSL's matches via an agreement with IMG on a free-to-air and subscription basis. Band History, Coverage, Features
Band, short for Rede Bandeirantes, is a Brazilian television network from Brazil. It is owned and operated by the Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicacao, who launched the channel on May 13, 1967. Band was the first television network in Brazil to offer all its content in full color, and It is frequently referred to as the fourth most-watched television network in Brazil.
Throughout the years, Band has established itself as a general entertainment channel. The network has aired news shows, reality shows, variety programs, TV series, children’s programming, comedy shows, game shows, movies, and sports. The widely popular Brazilian carnival has also been covered by this channel.
Speaking about sports, Band was known as the “sports channel” during the late 80s and early 90s for their sports coverage of different disciplines, which went from motorsports, basketball, and football. Recently, Band has provided coverage for football competitions such as the German Bundesliga, the Italian Serie A, the Copa do Brasil, or the Russian Premier League. The channel has also aired international tournaments such as the FIFA Confederations Cup or the UEFA Champions League.
Band started by airing its contend in SD format, but this changed in the late 2000s when the network began using an HD feed. Recently, a state-of-the-art 4K HD format has been developed by the company for its use on some devices.
