Beach soccer; also referred to as beach football, sand football, or beasal; is a variation of football that is played on a beach or some type of sand. This sport is played on a pitch smaller than the normal football field. Each team consists of five players, including the goalkeeper. An unlimited number of substitutions can be made from a selection of three to five players. The duration of a game is 36 minutes, with each match being split into three 12-minute periods. Some of the major beach soccer tournaments are the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, the Intercontinental Cup, and the BSWW Mundialito.
