The Bavarians run away as champions of the 2019/2020 competition thanks to Kingsley Coman's lone strike.

The 2019/2020 UEFA Champions League campaign concluded with a splendid finale on Sunday night as Bayern Munich firmly stamped their dominance to secure the title by beating Paris Saint-Germain. A 1-0 scoreline was enough to usher the Bavarians into the promise land at the expense of their French opponent, a result that saw them clinch yet another treble.

Contrary to beliefs held before the commencement of the PSG-Bayern clash, the encounter served up all but the goal-galore many were anticipating. While it was not short of the spectacle promised, poor finishing coupled goalkeeping heroics proved to be the night's high points.

In the end, it was Bayern Munich who successfully reinforced their supremacy to win their sixth Champions League title thanks to Kingsley Coman's 59th-minute header. Having secured its place as one of the most absorbing finals in recent years, here are five interesting facts we learned from the 2019/2020 final:

1. 'Mr Safe Hands' Manuel Neuer still has his mojo

It will be silly to think that Bayern Munich would have gotten this far without Manuel Neuer manning their post. Ahead of Sunday's final, many wondered why the Bavarians had conceded just five goals throughout the competition and it is safe to say that that was proved by the 34-year-old sooner than later.

Neuer was arguably Man of the Match today after his masterclass performance kept the threats of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Jr and Angel Di Maria at bay. The World Cup winner cannot be slept on and he is easily the greatest goalkeeper of his generation and even may be the best goalkeeper of all time.

2. The 'killer mentality' eluded Neymar and Mbappe in their biggest test yet

Make no mistake, Neymar and Mbappe were decent against Bayern Munich. However, in a game where the stakes are this high, being sub-par will not be enough to take you over the finishing line. A lot could have changed in favor of PSG had the pair turned up the heat a little bit.

Just as witnessed in the quarter final against RB Leipzig, moments of individual brilliance were constantly undone by poor decision-making in the opponent's half and bad finishing. There is surely more room for improvements for the world's two most-expensive football stars.

3. Thiago Silva played his last game but PSG have a worthy replacement in Marquinhos

In listing the names of players who have been consistently impressive for PSG in the knockout of the Champion League, omitting Marquinhos should be considered a football crime. Against both Atalanta and RB Leipzig, the Brazilian center back excelled in his makeshift defensive midfielder role and replicated the same feat against Bayern Munich.

Thiago Silva has seemingly brought his stint to an end but he will not be missed so much considering the trajectory of his compatriot. The incoming partnership with an in-form Kimpembe should yield a lot of great dividends.

4. Bayern Munich's squad depth is scary

Bayern Munich run like a well oiled machine from top to bottom. They have the best built squad in Europe and it is not even close. Pass it on.

5. The 'present' is bright for Alphonso Davies

Just 19 years old and living the dream. The rhetoric about the future being bright for Alphonso Davies is true but presently, there are just a handful of full-backs that can do what the young Canadian can do. It takes some doing to come up against Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria and Neymar Jr in less than 14 days and excel against each and everyone of them. 

First Canadian international to win a men's Champions League title? I say that is totally deserved for the  brilliant youngster. Long may we see many of THAT Semedo moment!
