The Welshman opened up about leaving the Spanish giants this summer, and even dropped a hint on how close he came to leaving last year.

Gareth Bale has finally opened up about his future, and his words will not be taken lightly by either Florentino Pérez or Zinedine Zidane.

The Welshman, currently preparing for international duty with his National Team, referred to his current situation with the 2019-20 La Liga champions, and he decided to pin the blame on them for his lack of playing time and for keeping him around when Zidane has no intention of fielding him.

"I just want to play football, I'm only 31 and I am in good shape. I still have a lot to give. I'm at the club's mercy, but to be honest, they make things quite difficulty for everyone," Bale stated.

The player went on about his desire to leave, confirming that he came close to seal a transfer last summer. Nevertheless, the club pulled the plug on that transfer and refused to let him go.

"The club should be the one to answer that question, because I tried to leave last year and the club blocked every option up until the last second. The did not allow me to leave, so they should answer what's next. I want to play and I'm motivated to do so, but what else can I do? I am under contract and all I can do is keep working and see what happens next," Bale added.

Before the interview with Sky Sports ended, the footballer left the door open for a Premier League return if there is a chance to negotiate a deal, but then again, he left the ball on Real Madrid's corner to negotiate.

"It's not in my hands, but if the option comes up, I will surely give a lot of thought to it. The transfer window is open and only time will tell. The club will have a say on this matter and that's it," Bale concluded.

The Welsh ace became Real Madrid's most expensive signing in 2013. Since then, he helped Los Blancos win four UEFA Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns. Nevertheless, his relationship with Zinedine Zidane and his antics off the pitch have tarnished the image of an influential player during crunch moments of his stay at the Bernabeu.
