The Man City and Man Utd aces are in hot water after breaching strict COVID-19 guidelines while on international duty.

England are preparing for their UEFA Nations League showdown with Denmark on Tuesday but the European giants will be without two highly-promising players. They are none other than Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood, two of the Three Lions hottest youngsters.

The pair, who play for Man City and Man Utd respectively, were called up to the national side for the ongoing international break. Both made an appearance in the recent 1-0 victory over Iceland but have now been sent home early, as confirmed by Gareth Southgate.

The reason: the pair broke COVID-19 regulations and will thus not travel to Copenhagen for Tuesday's match. Foden and Greenwood broke the strict quarantine bubble rule after videos emerged of them bringing girls back to a hotel in Iceland. It has been reported that this hangout occurred in the team's hotel but Southgate stated that this is not the case.

"Nothing has happened in the areas we occupy in the hotel," the England boss stated. "We are still getting the depths of the information. Still getting to grips with the detail. We have spent such a long time getting measures in place and the whole squad followed that to the letter.

"I'm not going into any more details until I'm clear of everything. No-one from outside the hotel has been into the areas we occupy."

The Three Lions gaffer also revealed that the pair have apologized for their irresponsible actions, with both Man City and Man Utd expressing their disappointment. It remains uncertain whether they will have to quarantine upon arrival in the UK. Should they be forced into a 14-day isolation period, Foden and Greenwood would not be able to play for the Citizens and the Red Devils in the first game of the upcoming 2020/21 Premier League season.
