Real Madrid are willing to facilitate Gareth Bale's departure by paying half of his salary should he join a club of his choice, a report from England has revealed. Los Blancos are purportedly willing to do anything necessary to enter the new season without the 31-year-old winger on their books ahead of the upcoming season.
Bale's future at Real Madrid has been widely discussed following the second-coming of Zinedine Zidane as the manager of the Bernabeu outfit. Under the French manager, the former Tottenham Hotspur star has become surplus to the requirement.
Despite Madrid's desperation to get rid of the winger, the club's attempts have proved futile with the player constantly reiterating his desire to see out his current contract which ends in June 2022. The attacker's age and massive wages also make him less attractive to potential suitors although the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keeping tabs on him.
Earlier this week, multiple reports from Spain indicated that Gareth Bale was set for crunch talks with Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane on Wednesday. However, the meeting under which the attacker was supposedly going to be told to look for a new club never happened as per Deportivo Cuatro. The report further claimed that the Wales international did not participate in the day's training session with the first team after returning to the base with an injury he picked up while on duty for the national team. This has supposedly enraged the Spanish capital outfit who are now looking to sanction his departure by paying part of his wages.
According to the Telegraph, the Merengues believe that Bale's stance to remain at the club is simply due to the fact that he will be signing for less money than what he's currently earning if he considered moving elsewhere. For Zidane's side, paying 50 percent of what he's earning for the club should be enough to force the player out.
Ahead of Wales' UEFA Nations League encounter with Finland and Bulgaria, Bale stated that he was open to a move back to the Premier League should Real Madrid consider offloading him. Despite having two years left on his current deal, Los Blancos are reportedly ready to let him leave without the interested club paying a transfer fee.
