In just a few days time, the 58th installment of the Bundesliga will get underway, with Bayern Munich welcoming Schalke to the Allianz Arena. Die Roten are coming into this tie fresh off their impressive Treble winning season, during which they won an eighth straight Bundesliga title, their 20th DFB-Pokal, and finally ended their seven-year long wait to clinch another Champions League trophy.
For fans who live in the United States, they will have another way to watch hundreds of Bundesliga matches throughout the upcoming campaign. With ESPN+ now on board, Bundesliga supporters can now live-stream games featuring their favorite teams, and the first of these matches will be none other than the much awaited season opener featuring reigning champs Bayern Munich and visiting side Schalke. Over 300 games will be live-streamed this season in both English as well as in Spanish.
The opening game of the 2020/2021 season is set to take place on Friday, September 18th at 14:30 ET (11:30 PT). Fans have the option of watching it on ESPN or live-streaming it on ESPN+. Spanish speaking viewers can tune into ESPN Deportes.
Prior to this, viewers can tune into the ESPN FC Live pregame show at 14:00 ET (11:00 PT), which will be shown on ESPN, as well as Bundesliga Countdown Live, which can be streamed via the ESPN App, YouTube, and other social media channels and starts at 13:30 ET (10:30 PT).
The ESPN FC Live pregame show will be hosted by former USMNT international Taylor Twellman, who will be joined for the first time by renowned German football writer Archie Rhind-Tutt, while Bundesliga Countdown Live will be co-hosted by Dan Thomas and analyst Craig Burley.
In addition to ESPN+, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes will also be carrying select matches over the course of the 2020/2021 term as the three channels have done in the prior season. English-language coverage of the matches as well as for ESPN FC Live will be covered by the aforementioned Twellman, Thomas, Burley and Rhind-Tutt, as well as former USMNT goalkeeper Kasey Keller, Derek Rae, former Norwegian international Jan Åge Fjørtoft, and retired Venezuelan international Alejandro Moreno.
Twellman will also be hosting a weekly show, Banter with Taylor Twellman which will be live-streamed on the ESPN App each Wednesday at 14:00 EST (11:00 PT).
Meanwhile, the duo of Fernando Palomo and Mario Kempes will be in charge of Spanish-language coverage and analysis on ESPN Deportes. Fans can also check out ESPNDeportes.com for additional coverage, analysis, and more content from the team of experts at ESPN Deportes.
Finally, ESPN+ will also be the home of Emmy-nominated show Soccer Made in Germany, which will provide a special look at a select weekly match, with focus on its highlights.
