The Red Devils are exploring the opportunity recruit the Brazilian left-back after missing out a transfer for the Real Madrid defender.

FC Porto left back Alex Telles has reportedly agreed a five-year contract with Manchester United. The 27-year-old left-back is expected to make the move to Old Trafford this summer with the Red Devils and his club now in talks over a transfer fee.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon but lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the player's signature after refusing to accept a buy-back clause in the contract. The 23-year-old Spaniard subsequently departed for North London from Madrid on Friday to complete the switch while United turned their attention to other targets.

Despite needing reinforcements in numerous positions, the Red Devils have only recruited Donny Van de Beek for 40 million pounds ($46 million). While the frustration of fans of the club persists, RMC's Mohamed Bouhafsi and the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano have claimed that another addition is not far off.

According to the pair, a five-year deal has been struck with Alex Telles to give Luke Shaw competition at the left back position. The  Old Trafford outfit are now set to hold crunch talks with Porto for the player valued around 17 million pounds ($22 million). Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in the player but are yet to table an official bid.

Ahead of Manchester United's Premier League season opener with Crystal Palace, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated that the club was actively pursuing targets in the transfer market. As a result, a number of players could potentially arrive at the club before the close of the window.
