Preview: Istanbul Basaksehir vs PSG

Both Istanbul Basakseshir and PSG will be hoping to get off the board as they lock horns on matchday two of the 2020/2021 Champions League this Wednesday. For the hosts, they were on the wrong end of a 2-0 score-line against last season's surprise semi-finalists RB Leipzig, and so will also be seeking to grab their first goal of this campaign. As for the visitors, they suffered a disappointing 2-1 reversal at home to Manchester United in a match that they also failed to actually score and likewise will be seeking all three points as they will definitely be battling with the Red Devils for top spot in Group H.

This is the first ever appearance for Istanbul Basakseshir in the group stages of the Champions League, and it looks set to be a baptism by fire for the first-time Super Lig champions due to the presence of teams like Manchester United, PSG, and RB Leipzig in their quartet. Nonetheless, they will be hoping to use this as a learning experience, and will be determined not to be the punching bag for the other teams in their group.

Okan Buruk's men recovered from their 2-0 loss to Leipzig with a resounding 5-1 victory over Antalyaspor, which will certainly boost their spirits ahead of PSG's arrival, and while they are the definite underdogs against last season's Champions League runners-up, they will be looking to keep the score-line respectable.

PSG, meanwhile, will be aiming to recover following their poor showing against Manchester United, and Kylian Mbappe in particular will be looking to open his Champions League account. He's gone six Champions League games without scoring - which is the longest in his young career - and that's bound to end at some point. Will the Turkish champions become his latest victims?
