Pep Guardiola has opened up about the conversation he had at full-time with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after the two managers saw their sides share spoils in Sunday's classic showdown. The pair had to settle for a point apiece with the game producing just a goal apiece for either side.

In what turned out to be an entertaining fixture at the Etihad, Mohamed Salah opened the scoring with a spot-kick inside the first 13 minutes before Gabriel Jesus restored parity for the hosts after right the half hour mark. The Citizens could have taken the lead going into the break but Kelvin De Bruyne missed the penalty awarded in his favor in the 42nd minute.

Despite the scoreline being a perfect reflection of the match-up, Liverpool had their day marred by an injury to Trent-Alexander Arnold. The 21-year-old right-back was subsequently replaced with James Milner and, while the full extent of the damage caused to him is yet to be known, reports suggest that he is set to miss England's upcoming games in the international break.

At full-time, both Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola were caught having a deep. According to the latter, the subject that was deliberated on between them had to with the Premier League's decision against the usage of five substitutions.

"We didn't speak about the result, we spoke about how we must fight again and again about five substitutions," Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"Look - an England international player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, he's injured. All around the world there are five substitutes but here we believe we are more special people.

"We don't protect the players and that's why it's a disaster. I will demand, if the people allow my voice, that we bring back five substitutions to help the players, the managers and everyone.

"If not it is difficult to sustain it."
