The Portuguese ace and his inner circle seem determined to see the end of his career at Manchester United, according to reports.

What started out as just a wish for Manchester United fans could end up becoming a reality, as the possibility to see Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford is closer than ever.

According to Spanish newspaper As, the Portuguese footballer has already made up his mind and has decided not to continue playing for Juventus beyond the end of his current deal with the bianconeri. Hence, the footballer would look to go back to Old Trafford and sign his final big deal with a European club at no cost for the Red Devils.

The same source consulted by As admitted that agent Jorge Mendes is already plotting to see his client and friend signing a three-year deal with Manchester United. However, this plan could end up falling apart for a number of reasons.

First off, the deal would only become a reality in two years, when Cristiano's deal with Juventus comes to an end. Moreover, the player's deal with the bianconeri would be automatically extended if CR7 can lead Juve to one more UEFA Champions League title.

If things go as planned by Mendes and CR7, the Portuguese player could join Manchester United for the 2022-23 season, and Mendes' proposed deal could see Cristiano Ronaldo hanging his boots when he turns 40.
