Preview: Poland vs Netherlands

Although they lost their first Nations League match to the Netherlands, Poland recovered well, picking up two wins and a draw from their next three games to climb to top spot in their quartet. However, they now come into this final game having lost their penultimate tie 2-0 to the Azzurri, meaning that they now have to beat the same team that defeated them on matchday one and hope that Italy somehow lose to bottom-ranked Bosnia in order to have a chance at winning their group.

It goes without saying that will be much easier said than done. Prior to their loss to Italy, Poland had gone three games without a loss and without conceding a goal. However, they were taking on a team who boasted one of the most formidable records in Europe - the Azzurri came into that tie unbeaten in their last 20 games across all comps and they certainly weren't going to allow that slip up just yet. That's despite missing a few notable players due to injuries.

As for the visiting side, who finished as runners-up in the inaugural Nations League competition, they've jumped from third to second thanks to their comfortable 3-1 win over Bosnia, and now are actually in a good position to potentially win their group. That is, provided they beat Poland and Italy fail to pick up all three points against Bosnia, but given that Bosnia haven't won any of their games so far, it's hard to see the Azzurri slipping up on the final matchday.

Still, it's going to be very interesting, with top spot in Group 1 up for grabs. Although Italy are the prime contenders, both Poland and the Netherlands do have a good chance at edging out the Azzurri for that coveted spot - provided that Bosnia finally awake from their stupor and grab what would be a shock win against Roberto Mancini's side.
