Tuesday night saw Germany suffer one of their most embarrassing defeats in history, losing 6-0 to Spain in the final group-stage fixture of the UEFA Nations League season. As is the norm in the aftermath of humiliating results, questions regarding Joachim Low’s future quickly arose, which quickly promoted a response from Germany national team director Oliver Bierhoff.

Given Germany’s declining form under Low since winning the World Cup back in 2014, many began wondering if this was the final straw, the result that would bring an end to his 14-year reign. However, Bierhoff was quick to rubbish these claims.
The Germany NT chief was quick to assure the 60-year-old tactician’s future ahead of Euro 2020. When asked if he would remain in charge for next year’s European Championship, Bierhoff did not hesitate with his reply, telling ARD (as per Goal): “Absolutely, yes. This game changes nothing. We still trust Joachim Low, no doubt about that.
"When it comes to the national team's coach, you have to think and analyze from tournament to tournament. We want to achieve the maximum at next year's Euros.
"We have to digest this defeat first, it will take some time. Everything went wrong. We lost the ball easily and the team fell apart, that shouldn't happen. We didn't go into the tackles or keep possession. We have to learn from it and draw good conclusions."
The defeat means that Germany failed to progress to the finals for a second time in a row. Die Mannschaft had a one point lead over the Spaniard heading into Tuesday’s game and simply needed to avoid a loss in order to go through. However, they utterly collapsed, conceding three inside the first 40 minutes.
Ferran Torres ran riot in that game, scoring a hat-trick for the home side, with Morata, Rodri, and Oyarzabal getting on the scoresheet. La Furia Roja have thus joined France in the finals, with one of Italy/Netherlands and Belgium/Denmark set to complete the last four.
