Man City receive injury boost ahead of Spurs clash

Manchester City receive double injury boost ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash

November 20, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The Citizens had two of their injured key players featuring in their final training session ahead of Saturday's showdown.

Manchester City have received a double injury boost ahead of Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur with both Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling returning to the fold. The pair featured in the Citizens' final training session on Friday and should be competing for places in the starting lineup on Saturday.

It has been a bumpy ride for Pep Guardiola's side so far as recurring injuries to a host of star players has seen them struggle in the Premier League. In the case of Sergio Aguero, the Argentine international has not been in action for the Etihad outfit since suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw with West Ham in October. This came after a knee injury had prevented him from playing more 180 minutes of football in the past four months.

Relatively, Raheem Sterling also failed to feature for England during this month's international break due to a muscle issue. The winger, as a result, missed the Three Lions' friendly meeting with the Republic of Ireland, as well as the Nations League match-ups with Belgium and Iceland.

On Friday, Manchester confirmed that both Aguero and Sterling featured in the day's training session and should be involved when the club travels to North London on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Fernandinho and Nathan Ake are ruled out fo the trip to the Tottenham Stadium. According to Pep Guardiola, the former has a stomach issue while the latter is yet to recover from the injury he picked up on international break with the Netherlands.
