November 20, 2020 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The French superstar caused the record books to be revised by scoring twice in the first 45 minutes of Friday's meeting with his former club.

Paris Saint-Germain ace Kylian Mbappe has landed himself on an illustrious list following his goalscoring exploits against AS Monaco in Friday night's Ligue 1 encounter. The 21-year-old forward has ascended fifth position on his club's all-time goalscorers' list after scoring twice against his former club in the first half of the encounter.

In his return to Stade Louis II having featured for Monaco at the grounds between 2015 and 2018, Mbappe handed PSG the lead in the 26th minute The French attacker latched onto a through from Angel Di Maria in the middle of the pitch and sprinted all the way to fire the ball past Vito Mannone from about 12 yards.

10 minutes later, the two-time Golden Boy winner grabbed his second of the night from the spot-kick after Rafinha had been brought down inside the host's penalty area while attempting a cross. The former could have finished the half with a hat-trick but had the Video Assistant Referee ruling his third goal for offside right on the stroke of half-time.

In effect, Kylian Mbappe took his overall goal tally since joining Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2018 to 99 in 133 appearances across all competitions. As a result, he surpassed the legendary Mustapha Dahleb to move to fifth place, with the former Algerian international having managed 98 goals in his career.

At the moment, Mbappe is just a goal behind fourth-placed Rocheteau Dominique on the leaderboard. 1. Edinson Cavani (200 goals), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (156 goals) and Pedro Miguel Pauleta (109 goals) occupy the top three positions.
