The Dortmund talent was honored after enjoying a breakout 2019/20 season.

Dortmund sensation Erling Braut Haaland has been named the winner of the 2020 Golden Boy award, beating Barcelona talent Ansu Fati to be named the best young player after enjoying a sensational 2019/20 season.

The coveted accolade, founded by Tuttosport to honor the best under 21 player across the European leagues, was awarded to the Norwegian ace after enjoying a meteoric rise that saw him score 44 goals last term. A rigorous voting process was held to decide this year's winner, with a panel of global experts favoring the Bundesliga striker, and understandably so.

After breaking onto the scene with 28 goals for RB Salzburg, eight of which came in the UEFA Champions League group stage, he earned a January move to Dortmund. Things only got better at the Signal Iduna Park, scoring 12 times in his first 10 games for Favre's side.

As a result, he picked up 302 points in the voting process, 63 more than second-placed Ansu Fati (239 points). The Barcelona man is yet another youngster who burst onto the scene last season and has continued his amazing form for the Blaugrana, scoring five and assisting four in 10 apps this term (all competitions).

Bayern Munich talent Alphonso Davies came in a close third with 226 points after helping the Bavarians lift the treble and by winning the hearts of football fans with his come-up story. Fellow Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho came in fourth with 80 points while Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga, who is wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus, wrapped up the top five with 50 points.
