Liverpool new-boy Diogo Jota inspired the Reds to yet another important victory with both the club and the player entering the record books for distinctive reasons. The Merseysiders hosted Leicester City at Anfield on Sunday and ended up running away with a 3-0 win to tie on 20 points atop the league table with Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite having a number of key players missing, Jurgen Klopp's men were at their brilliant best right from the onset, stamping their dominance on the game to curb the advances of the visitors. It took them just a little over 20 minutes to be rewarded for their hard work with Jonny Evans erroneously heading a corner into his own net for the game's opener.
Four minutes before the half-time break, Diogo Jota grabbed his eighth goal in seven appearances for Liverpool by heading Andrew Robertson's cross past Kasper Schmeichel following a sequence of 30 passes. In effect, the former Wolves man became the first player-ever in the history of Liverpool to score in each of his first four Premier League appearances at Anfield.

Roberto Firmino subsequently put the game out of Leicester's reach in the 86th-minute for his second goal at Anfield this season. Until the beginning of this season, the Brazilian managed just one goal in 19 appearances at the venue last season.

For Liverpool, the game's outcome extended their unbeaten Premier League run at Anfield to 64, the longest the club has ever managed in its history. The last time the Reds lost a match at the venue was in April 2017 against Crystal Palace. Following the Eagles' 2-1 win, Jurgen Klopp's side has gone on to win 53 games while drawing 11 of their last 64 outings.
The own-goal scored by Jonny Evans as the opener also saw the Merseysiders landing another new milestone. The club has now set a Premier League record of scoring in 39 successive home games, breaking their old record of scoring in 38 matches in the 1960s.
