The current leaders in La Liga want to add some talent to their front line after letting Diego Costa leave earlier this week.

League leaders Atlético Madrid hired Luis Suárez during the summer, and now, it seems that Los Colchoneros will get in the way of one of Barcelona's priority signings for the ongoing transfer season.

During the early days of 2021, Los Colchoneros granted Diego Costa's wish to leave the club, and that move could have sort of a "butterfly effect" that will work against Barcelona, since both teams are looking to sign players from the same team, and Simeone's men seem to have better options to sign their transfer target.

Atlético started negotiating to hire Moussa Dembelé away from Lyon on loan, and the deal could materialize in the next few days. Unfortunately for Barcelona, this move could thump their intentions to sign Memphis Depay, since Lyon will not let two of their strikers leave in the same transfer window.

This is not the only problem Barcelona will face in the ongoing transfer window, as coach Ronald Koeman has also identified defender Eric García as a major priority to boost their defense. Nevertheless, their lack of transfers away from the club could forbid Los Culés from signing more players.

Los Colchoneros will have a few more days to complete this deal after their clash against Athletic was postponed due to a massive blizzard in Madrid. Even so, Barcelona fans and maybe their execs as well will be wishing that deal does not take place, so they keep their options to sign Depay alive.
