Pochettino’s men host Les Monégasques on the back of their impressive 4-1 win at the Camp Nou. Will the defending champions end Kovac’s 10-game unbeaten run? Here’s a preview of Sunday’s clash.

PSG vs Monaco – preview

PSG are gearing up for a crucial Ligue 1 weekend showdown, taking on Monaco in a fixture that could go a long way in determining both teams' fate in the domestic league. The two French heavyweights will lock horns at 3 p.m. ET live on Fanatiz USA and beIN Sports as Pochettino's looks to maintain his winning streak when his men clash with Niko Kovač's side.

Les Parisiens' title defense has endured a few bumps, culminating in the sacking of Thomas Tuchel. However, the ship has been stable since Pochettino's appointment, with Mbappe and Co. returning to the mix in the title race since the Argentine took over. While they are currently third in the table, the Paris giants sit a mere point behind Lyon, who have played a game extra, and Lille.

The former Tottenham boss has been in charge for 11 games at the Parc des Princes, winning nine and losing only once. Six of those victories have come in the domestic top-flight, beating the likes of Marseille, Nice, and Montpellier. Pochettino has done well to erase the 3-2 loss to relegation-battling Lorient from everyone's memories, having won the subsequent three league fixtures while conceding only once.

PSG head into this fixture on the back of an unforgettable midweek European triumph. The French champions visited continental rivals Barcelona on Tuesday for the first leg of their round of 16 showdown and came away with a memorable victory, beating the Catalans 4-1 in Spain despite being without Neymar.

That game could be best described as the Kylian Mbappe Show, with the 22-year-old superstar scoring a historic hat-trick. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was responsible for the equalizer and giving PSG the lead before completing his hat-trick in the 85th minute, becoming the first player to pull off a three-goal haul at the Camp Nou in the knockout stage.

However, they cannot be hung-over as Monaco are no pushovers. Les Monégasques have gone 11 games unbeaten since losing three in a row in the league back in December. As a result, Volland and Co. have climbed up to fourth and are only five points adrift of Pochettino's side. Victory would move them within two points of PSG and would spark their hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League, but this won't be an easy task.

Team news

PSG: Neymar and Angel Di Maria remain sidelined. Moise Kean will likely retain his role in the lineup due to Sarabia's absence. Colin Dagba and Juan Bernat have not yet returned from injury, meaning Pochettino should name an identical lineup to the one that beat Barcelona.

Monaco: Aleksandr Golovin  will hopefully return for this game, having been on the sidelines due to a muscular issue. If the Russian sits out this fixture, Ruben Aguilar or Krepin Diatta will likely deputize.

Key stats

  • Monaco won their most recent Ligue 1 encounter with PSG but that is their only triumph in their last eight showdowns.

  • Kovac's side are unbeaten in their last 10 league games.

  • Pochettino's men have triumphed in six of their last seven Ligue 1 clashes (L1).
