Another round of Premier League matches concluded with a few surprising results that have changed the outlook of the table.

Round 25 of the English Premier League was successfully brought to an end on Monday night with Brighton and Crystal Palace featuring in the curtain drawer. In the end, it was the visitors who climaxed an intriguing weekend of football actions, with a 2-1 victory, giving a whole new dimension to the battle at the bottom half of the table. Relatively, the fight at the top half is also as absorbing as ever after a host of potential title and top-four contenders fell short.

For starters, reigning champions Liverpool were condemned to a historic fourth-successive defeat at Anfield as Everton ran off with a 2-0 win in the Merseyside derby. Tottenham Hotspur were also stunned by West Ham, picking up their third successive away defeat under Jose Mourinho while Chelsea drew 1-1 with Southampton at the St Mary's. Leicester City, Manchester United and Manchester City picked up wins in their respective fixtures.

Manchester City maintained a 10-point lead atop the Premier League table with their 12-successive win in the competition. The Citizens are now one away win away from setting a new record for the longest away winning run in the English top-flight. Meanwhile Manchester United and Leicester kept up the pressure on Pep's side with victory this weekend while West Ham entered the top four with victory over Spurs, demoting Chelsea to fifth.

Mohamed Salah maintained his status as the league's topscorer despite failing to get on the scoresheet in the Merseyside derby. Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes moved to two goals within reach of the Egyptian with his goal against Newcastle. Harry Kane failed to increase his haul for the season in the defeat to West Ham but still remains third on the chart.

  • Odds slashed for Mourinho to be sacked by Spurs: Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has been tipped to sack Jose Mourinho amid the club's struggles. The Portuguese manager, despite having started the season brilliantly, has seen his side fighting to stay within reach of top four after a series of bad results. Spurs sit in ninth position with just a win from their last five outings and reports from England suggest that it may not be long until Mourinho is thrown under the bus.

  • Solskjaer vows to fight on in the title race: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that his side will not give up easily on the title race despite the threat Man City pose. The Red Devils are currently 10-points behind their city-rivals but, according to their manager, they are not discarding optimism anytime soon.

  • Fans to return to stadiums from May 17: Premier League supporters are set to return to sporting events from Monday, May 17, following the unveiling of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson road map for easing coronavirus lockdown restrictions. Since the tier system was discarded in December 2020, fans have been restricted from attending sporting venues across England. The proposal has indicated that from May 17, larger outdoor seated venues such as football stadiums will be given the green light to have 10,000 people present or be a quarter full.

  • Man City vs West Ham: West Ham will hope to halt Manchester City's upward trajectory when they travel to Etihad in the coming weekend. David Moyes' men have been in fine form, winning five of their last seven league outings. The test should be an interesting one considering that the host will enter off the back of a 12-game winning run in the competition.

  • Leicester vs Arsenal: Title-chasing Leicester City will hope to dash Arsenal's chances of finishing in the top four when they welcome them to the King Power Stadium. The Gunners have struggled for form and are yet to hit a consistent run despite showing promise in recent weeks.
