The Citizens landed an all-new milestone with Wednesday night's victory in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City have set a new record for the most successive away wins in an English top-flight club with Wednesday night's victory over Borussia Monchengladbach. The Citizens scored twice in the night's Round of 16 first leg encounter to take their consecutive number of away wins in all competitions to 12, becoming the first English club to ever do so.

Bernardo Silva broke the deadlock for Pep Guardiola's side in the 29th minute by uncharacteristically heading home Joao Cancelo's inch-perfect cross. The Etihad outfit then doubled their lead in the 65th minute, this time through Gabriel Jesus who simply tapped in Bernardo's lofty-headed pass in Monchengladbach's penalty area.

Securing a two-goal advantage that may come in handy in the second leg clash at the Etihad, Manchester City extended their away winning run to 12 in the last 12 appearances. So far, the Citizens have managed an incredible haul of 19 consecutive wins in all competitions and are not far off from the world record of 23 wins held by Brazilian side Cortiba.

Relatively, Manchester City became the first team to keep a clean sheet in their first four away Champions League matches in a campaign in the last decade. Rivals Manchester United were the last club to successfully achieve the feat in the 2010/2011 season.
