The Mexican top-flight prepares for the final stretch of the season with some interesting matches taking place this weekend.

The Guard1anes 2021 tournament has officially entered its final stretch. With only five games left for each team to play, the playoff spots will ignite an electric race between those who still have chances, with the exceptions of Cruz Azul and América, two teams that have already earned their spots in the final stage with their stellar performances.

The International Break could have had a negative effect on the Mexican squads, since we will have to wait and see if there are any injury absences. Furthermore, we will have to wait for these games to be held to determine if those that lead the pack have lost their impressive momentum and leave a window of opportunity to those that want to catch up with them.

Let's have a look at what Matchday 13 in the Liga MX has to offer (Image provided by Liga MX)

All activity will kick off on Friday with the Puebla-Mazatlan clash, where both will want to get away from relegation problems. Later that day, last-placed Juárez will play their own David and Goliath story against Cruz Azul, a team that leads in virtually every category in the Mexican top-flight. Will we have a shock result in the making?

Saturday will bring one more edition of the classic game between América and Necaxa, which will be the highlight of the day. Prior to that match, Atlas will kick things off by hosting Xolos at Estadio Jalisco. As an encore, the game between Monterrey and San Luis will put an end to an interesting Saturday in the Mexican tournament.

Curiously, Sunday will be the busiest day of the weekend with four games being played. Things will kick off at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario between Pumas and Pachuca, which will be followed up by Chivas hosting Santos. The third game of the day will feature the up and coming Querétaro against a struggling Tigres side, and the final match of the day will give fans a chance to watch defending champions León hosting Toluca, one of the most consistent teams of the competition.
