What are the must-watch games this week?

PSG vs Lille this Saturday at 11 a.m. ET live on beIN SPORTS CONNECT

Given how tight the title race is in Ligue 1, Saturday's clash between PSG and Lille could be the most crucial game of the French top-flight season. Les Dogues had been leading the race for some time and appeared well on their way to win the league but after a draw and a defeat in their last two fixtures, they have surrendered the top spot to Les Parisiens. Pochettino's men have endured a turbulent campaign, losing to Nantes around two weeks ago only to beat Lille and Lyon in back-to-back games. Both sides are tied on 63 points, with Mbappe and Co. boasting the advantage due to a superior goal difference. Who will win this Parc des Princes battle? Tune in to find out.

Arsenal vs Liverpool this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET live on NBC Sports and Telemundo

Liverpool resume their 2020/21 campaign with a tricky trip to Arsenal in the Premier League. Both the Reds and the Gunners have struggled this season and appear destined to miss out on a top-four finish. Only four points separate ninth-placed Arsenal from the reigning champions, meaning Arteta's men could edge closer to their rivals with a win over Klopp's side. However, both the north London giants and the Merseyside outfit have crucial midweek European games on the horizon and could have one eye on that when they lock horns at the Emirates Stadium.

Bayern Munich vs PSG headlines the midweek coverage of the UCL quarterfinals live on Paramount+

Paramount+ kicks off their coverage of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals this midweek with Tuesday's Real Madrid vs Liverpool and Man City vs Dortmund double header. The first legs of each of the last-eight fixtures will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the Bayern Munich vs PSG clash on April 7 being the standout fixture. The reigning champions will be without talisman forward Robert Lewandowski, having been ruled out for both legs due to a knee injury, which comes as a huge blow. Furthermore, things could get worse for the Bavarians if they lose their weekend showdown with RB Leipzig, which would further hurt their confidence. Porto, having knocked out Juventus in the round of 16, will welcome Chelsea in Wednesday's other fixture as the Portuguese outfit look to hand Tuchel his first defeat since arriving at Stamford Bridge. These midweek fixtures will also be aired on the popular Spanish-language broadcasters TUDN and Univision, as well as ZonaFutbol.

Paramount+ continues its European coverage on Thursday with the UEL quarterfinals, ft. Arsenal vs Slavia Praha and Granada vs Man Utdd

The European fun does not end there, with Paramount+ broadcasting all four of Thursday's Europa League quarterfinal fixtures. These first-leg ties all kick off at 3 p.m. ET, with Arsenal's home clash against Slavia Praha and Manchester United's trip to Granada being the standout fixtures. Of the two Premier League sides, the Gunners should to be in for a tougher ride as they take on the Czech side that knocked out fellow British clubs Leicester and Rangers out of Europe. As for the Red Devils, they are taking on a mid-table Spanish Primera Division side but cannot afford to be complacent. The other quarterfinal match-ups are Ajax vs Roma and Dinamo Zagreb vs Villarreal, which will also be aired on the popular Spanish-language broadcasters TUDN and Univision.

This week in women's football, April 2, April 8, 2021, Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona, PSG, Guadalajara, Tigres UANL, Liga MX Femenil, FA Women's Super League

Let's go over the UWCL quarterfinal results and semifinal what ifs, Joe Montemurro's departure from Arsenal at the end of the season and the list of additional women's football games to watch this weekend.

What the UEFA Women's Champions League semifinals will look like

Chelsea and Barcelona sealed their tickets to the UWCL semifinals on Wednesday. Emma Hayes' Blues put three goals past Wolfsburg and kept a clean sheet to win with a global score of 5-1. On the other hand, Barcelona clinched a spot in the semifinals despite losing to Manchester City 2-1 in the second leg thanks to their 3-0 home leg win.

Bayern Munich took on Swedish side Rosengard on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET. The Germans led by a 3-0 score after a dominant first leg last week and followed that up with a 1-0 triumph in the return fixture. However, the all-French quarterfinal between Lyon and PSG is up in the air and more so after the postponement of the second leg.

All in all, the semifinals will look very similar to the 2018-19 UEFA Women's Champions League penultimate stage. That time out, clubs from four different nations made it to the last four, something that will happen again this year. Also, the same four sides that were in the 2018-19 semifinals – Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Lyon – might meet again, as Bayern have advanced, and Lyon are up 1-0 with an away goal.

Projected 2020-21 UWCL semifinal matchups

The semifinals' first and second legs are scheduled to be played on April 24/25 and May 1/2.

  • Barcelona vs. Olympique Lyonnais

  • Chelsea vs. Bayern Munich

Joe Montemurro to leave Arsenal at the end of the season

Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro will part ways with the club after a four-year stint with the Gunners. The Australian led Arsenal to their first Women's Super League title in seven years in 2019 and described his tenure as "the highlight of my coaching career." The 51-year-old has decided to take a professional break to dedicate more time with his family.

In addition to the 2019 WSL title, Montemurro helped Arsenal reach four cup finals during his stint in London. The Gunners are fourth in the WSL, three points from third-placed Manchester United but with a game in hand and a better goal differential. His aim is to help Arsenal secure a spot in the 2021-22 UEFA Women's Champions League by finishing third in the league ahead of the Red Devils.

Manchester United and Chevrolet finally set to part ways

After a long and extensive search, Manchester United have finally secured a new kit sponsor for the upcoming 2021/2022 season. TeamViewer, a German technology company, will be the sixth organization fortunate enough to have their logo displayed on the iconic kits worn by players at the famed Old Trafford Stadium. They'll be following on the heels of globally-known companies such as Sharp, Vodafone, AIG, Aon, and most recently, American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet.

United's deal with Chevrolet, which started ahead of the 2014/2015 season, was worth about $79.8 million (£57.6 million) per year. The deal was actually supposed to expire at the end of the 2020/2021 term, but due to the outbreak of COVID-19, both sides agreed to sign a short-term, six-month arrangement after the Red Devils were unable to secure another sponsor for the long haul, and thus extended their contract through December 2021.

TeamViewer's five-year deal is set to begin with the 2021/2022 campaign. Although the exact financial details haven't been revealed, English publication Manchester Evening News alleges that the deal between the two sides is worth a total of $325 million (£235 million), which averages out to about $65 million (£47 million) each season.

France: Lloris, Griezmann make history in Bosnia and Herzegovina win

French pair Hugo Lloris and Antoine Griezmann have entered the history books for their respective contribution in the clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday night. The pair starred in Les Bleus' 1-0 win over their hosts as this round of Europe's World Cup qualifiers came to a conclusion.

Lloris, who earned his 123rd cap in the night, became the second most-capped player in France's history alongside Thierry Henry while Antoine Griezmann assumed fourth position on the goalscorers' chart with his 35th international goal, surpassing David Trezeguet.

Details of Man City's mammoth offer to sign Haaland revealed

Just when everyone thought that Erling Haaland's future was going to be linked to either Real Madrid or Barcelona, the player's inner circle has reportedly received an offer they may find hard to refuse.

According to a report by The Sun, the player has already been tempted by a mammoth offer from Manchester City that would make him the best-paid player in the league and would also make him one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. The deal would force Haaland to sign a five-year deal with the Cityzens, who would pay him a bit over $400,000 a week.

Nevertheless, the report adds that the infamous Mino Raiola will demand a $600,000-a-week wage to sign a deal with the English club. The cost of the transfer, between wages and the fee Man City would be forced to pay Borussia Dortmund, would escalate the transfer to a record-breaking $300M.

Haaland's time at Borussia Dortmund could be cut short if the team fails to qualify to the UEFA Champions League, and he has already stated he would consider offers if the Black and Yellow are not involved in that tournament.

Lewandowski to miss UCL quarter-final vs PSG after picking up knee injury during international break

The international break strikes again as one of the biggest names in world football has picked up an injury while on national team duty. That man is none other than Robert Lewandowski, with the Polish striker taking a knock to his knee in Poland's clash with Andorra.

The 32-year-old goalscoring machine captained his nation in Sunday's FIFA World Cup qualifier, scoring a brace en route to their 3-0 triumph over the European minnows. However, the striker was unable to complete the match, coming off after the hour mark.

Poland later confirmed that the Bundesliga sensation had sustained damage to his knee ligaments, thus ruling him out for their qualifier against England, which they lost 2-1. Further tests revealed that the Bundesliga superstar will be out for four weeks, unfortunately ruling him out for the weekend clash with RB Leipzig and both legs of Bayern Munich's UCL battle with PSG.

Bayern Munich will be without a Lewandowski that is producing these stats!

Inter Miami opt to cancel key pre-season matches ahead of 2021 MLS season

Due to COVID-19, the Herons have decided not to risk things and will not be featuring in a trio of warm-up games leading into the upcoming 2021 MLS season. As part of this preparation, Inter Miami were scheduled to take part in a quintet of warm-up matches to be played between March 20th and April 3rd. Already, their tie against USL Championship outfit Miami FC was called off due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in their opponents' camp.

That means that Neville's side have only taken part in one pre-season friendly match prior to the upcoming 2021 MLS competitive season and have lost that tie. While pre-season games aren't an indicator of how a team will fare for the actual term ahead, it's certainly not how he would have wanted to get his team up and running for proceedings, which will see them open up their campaign with a home clash against LA Galaxy on Sunday, April 18th.

Premier League stadiums to re-open to fans on April 18

The English government has reportedly lifted the restrictions on public events, and the first test will be held on April 18 when Leicester City and Southampton lock horns at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Fans were banned from entering all stadiums back in December due to an increase of COVID-19 cases in the United Kingdom. Now, with England being a reference when it comes to vaccinating their citizens, the chance of opening the stadiums once again will allow 4,000 fans entry into Wembley.

Ramos ruled out for Real Madrid's crucial ties against Liverpool and Barcelona

Reports came in from Spain assuring that Sergio Ramos picked up an injury while on international duty. The footballer featured for only 50 minutes in three games, as he only played one half against Greece and five minutes -- yes, five minutes -- against Kosovo, which made fans wonder if it was that necessary for him to travel with La Roja for those fixtures.

As soon as the news broke out, Ramos issued a statement where he revealed how and when he picked up the injury. The footballer will be out for at least one month, which means he will not be around to play against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League and against Barcelona, with all three games being played next week.
