Matchday 19 of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League will serve as a preparation period for Chelsea and Manchester City for their Matchday 20 clash on April 25.

FA WSL Matchday 19 preview

The matchday will begin with one game on Saturday between Reading and West Ham United a.m. 9 a.m. ET. The Hammers are in dire need of three points as they dwell at the Women's Super League table with nine points and two games in hand.

Sunday will be packed with WSL action, starting with the game of the week between league-leaders Chelsea and Birmingham City at 7:30 a.m. ET. As that game unfolds, Everton's home game against Aston Villa will begin at 8 a.m. ET.

The matchday will end with three simultaneous games, all starting at 9 a.m. ET. Tottenham will host Manchester City at the Hive Stadium; Arsenal will visit Bristol City at Twerton Park and Brighton will welcome Manchester United at Broadfield Stadium.

The end of Matchday 19 will see players go on international duty until April 24. Then, the FA WSL will resume with Matchday 20, which holds the most anticipated game of the season between Chelsea and Manchester City.

Game of the Week: Chelsea vs. Birmingham City

League-leaders Chelsea will take on a Birmingham City side that is four points above the relegation spot. Soccer fans in the USA can watch the game on TV through NBC Sports or stream it on ATA Football or NBC App for free. ATA Football, Fanatiz and DAZN will stream games in Germany and Italy.

Emma Hayes' Blues are four matchdays away from possibly lifting their third-ever FA Women's Super League title. However, Birmingham City is the next roadblock on Chelsea's path to consecutive league titles.

Coached by Carla Ward, Birmingham City has lived a mediocre 2020/21 campaign. The lack of squad depth has proven to be a problem for Ward and her endeavors to improve the Blues' performances. Winless in its last 10 league games, Birmingham City is in dire need of a win. However, a draw against the London side this weekend would be an outstanding result for Ward and her women.

On the other hand, the game is a must-win for Chelsea. The Blues have a two-point lead and two more goals than Manchester City. Another slip like the one against Brighton & Hove Albion back in February and the title hopes would be thrown out the window. Anyhow, the Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby duo has evolved into what seems like an unstoppable monster. Following Kirby's two assists and Kerr's two goals against Aston Villa, the duo now has combined for nine top-flight goals this season.
