The 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup and UEFA Women's EURO playoffs will start on Friday while the U.S. women's national team gear up to play against Sweden and France. Also, meet NWSL's NJ/NY Gotham City, formerly known as Sky Blue FC.

National Women's Soccer League team formerly known as Sky Blue FC unveiled a complete brand transformation, including a name change to NJ/NY Gotham FC and a new crest depicting Lady Liberty's crown.

The new name, crest and colors are meant to tie the team specifically to the New York metro area to boost the brand's global reach. Team executives believe that a tie to the greater New York City area is needed to become more globally recognizable to prospective sponsors, fans and players. At first sight, Gotham FC's logo reads NY. But after taking a closer look, you can see the letter "N" and a hybrid "J/Y", which acknowledges New Jersey as the club's birthplace while embracing the club's growing New York reach. Also, the introduction of Lady Liberty's crown at the top of the crest is meant to signify Gotham FC's ambitions to be an international club and provides a welcoming symbol for the team's diverse fan base.

NWSL Challenge Cup kickoff

CBS Sports Network will broadcast the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup opener between the Houston Dash and the Chicago Red Stars on Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game will be a replay of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup Final where the Dash lifted the trophy after a 2-0 win. Following the opener, Kansas City will make its NWSL debut against the Portland Thorns at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Unlike the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, the second edition of the tournament will be played in home markets. The ten teams are organized into two divisions, East and West. Each team will play four games in home markets, and the top team from each division will compete in the final scheduled for May 8, 2021.

UEFA Women's EURO playoffs

Thirteen teams have qualified to the UEFA Women's EURO 2022, leaving three vacated spots that need to be filled. Those spots will have owners by Tuesday, April 13, after the six nations that clinched a playoff spot in the qualifiers face off in the home and away legs. Ukraine, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Russia, Czech Republic and Switzerland will be the six nations that will fight for the three remaining tickets to England 2022.

The No. 1 U.S. women's national team will face No. 5 Sweden in Stockholm on Saturday, April 10, and take on No. 3 France at Stade Oceane in Le Havre on Tuesday, April 13. USWNT fans will be able to watch the game against Sweden on Saturday on FOX at 1 p.m. ET. On the other hand, the game against France will be broadcasted by ESPN 2 on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET.

Klopp slams referee after Liverpool's 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid

Liverpool's performance in their 3-1 loss to Real Madrid wasn't the only thing that sparked a livid reaction from manager Jurgen Klopp. Right as the half-time whistle was blown, the Reds boss was caught on camera in a heated conversation with the referee as the pair walked towards the tunnel. As per Sky Sports Germany, the 53-year-old said "That's bad! Just unfair!" to which match official Felix Brych replied: "What you're doing now is unfair, too."

Speaking after the final whistle, Klopp went public with his frustrations with Brych, arguing that he let Real Madrid get away with fouls on Sadio Mane. The manager went on to pin-point one incident in the build-up to Asensio's goal where the Senegalese ace, who was the last man and through on goal, appeared to be brought down by Lucas Vazquez near Los Blancos' penalty box. The whistle was not blown and the home side thus regained possession only to go two-nil up 27 seconds later.

"The situation with Sadio, I'm not sure what the ref did tonight," Klopp confessed. "It seemed like it was sort of personal.

"I told him after the game, I just thought he was unfair with Sadio. He didn't lose us the game but you need just an OK ref."

Barcelona's young American defender could set not one, but two records in Saturday's El Clasico clash

In Spain, Sergino Dest made waves this past October when it was announced that he'd signed a five-year deal with Barcelona with a buy-out clause of €400 million. The initial deal cost the Catalan giants about €21 million plus an additional €5 million in add-ons, and made Dest, then only 19, the first American to don the famed Blaugrana kit.

Dest is also one of just five American internationals to ever play in La Liga. Just five.

Predictably, as the first ever American - but hopefully not the last - to play at Camp Nou, Dest has set numerous milestones. The biggest achievement, certainly, has to be featuring in a game that some fans view as one of the biggest club football ties in the world: El Clasico.

On October 24, 2020, Dest was part of the Barcelona starting XI that took on Real Madrid at Camp Nou. Unfortunately, he wasn't on the winning side, as the Blaugrana ended up losing 3-1, but he nonetheless received high praise for his efforts.

Saturday, April 10th will be Dest's second El Clasico match. Having played for the full 90 minutes last October, there's only a few more milestones left for him to achieve here. One, of course, is to assist a goal. The other, naturally, would be to score one himself. The former would certainly please Barcelona and USMNT fans, but the latter would be, well, even better, obviously. Will viewers see him achieve one - or possibly both - this Saturday?

Chelsea: Tuchel, Mount and Chilwell land UCL milestones in crucial quarterfinal win over Porto

Thomas Tuchel, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell secured a bit of Champions League history following their respective contribution to Chelsea's win over FC Porto on Wednesday night. The latter pair got on the score sheet to fire the Blues to a vital 2-0 away victory ahead of the second leg quarterfinal clash scheduled for next Tuesday. In essence, they became the first two English players to score in a Champions League game since Frank Lampard and John Terry did so against Napoli in 2012.

Relatively, the win meant that Thomas Tuchel is only the second Chelsea manager in history to win his first three games in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. The last manager to do this was Roberto Di Matteo in 2011-12, a season in which the Blues eventually went on to lift the European trophy after beating Bayern Munich in the final.

Agüero set to snub offers from Barcelona and PSG to join EPL giants next season

With Manchester City's announcement about Sergio Agüero's departure by the end of the season, the player's future became linked to teams such as Barcelona, PSG, and even his boyhood club Independiente. Nevertheless, the footballer seems to have other plans that would not see him leaving the Premier League.

According to a report by the Evening Standard, Agüero would snub offers from those clubs and favor the only English team that has approached the player's entourage asking for his services. The report says that Agüero could join Chelsea as there are many reasons for the striker to choose this path.

The English newspaper established that Agüero wants to leave his mark in Premier League history by rising through the goalscorers' ranks. Right now, Agüero's tally of 181 goals is good enough to sit in fourth place of the all-time scoring list behind Alan Shearer (260), Wayne Rooney (208), and Andy Cole (187). While Agüero believes that catching up to Shearer may be a bit complicated, the Argentine would be looking to surpass Wayne Rooney's tally with this move.

French superstar Kylian Mbappe stepped up for PSG when his team needed him the most by scoring a brace against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. The first of his goals came thanks to a disappointing performance by Manuel Neuer, while the other one came during the second half in a striking counter-attack that concluded with a powerful shot to which the German keeper had no reaction.

Inter Miami set to announce stadium name change after signing new partnership

Newly-created club Inter Miami, who are coached by Phil Neville, partially owned by David Beckham, and are set to begin their sophomore campaign in just under a fortnight, are set to make a big announcement imminently. Their 18,000-seater temporary home venue was known as Inter Miami CF Stadium, but they're now set to move to the DRV PNK Stadium after the team announced a partnership with Florida-based automotive retailer AutoNation.

The reason for the name "DRV PNK" is to support AutoNation's Drive Pink initiative, which is a charity that raises funds for breast cancer research. Inter Miami's kits also happen to be black and pink, so it lines up perfectly with this same cause.

Although it hasn't yet been confirmed, there has also been some speculation that AutoNation, in addition to being on Inter Miami's new home stadium, could also serve as the team's kit sponsors as well.

Barcelona fans fume as La Liga reveals referee's identity for El Clasico

La Liga published the names of the referees that will be in charge of El Clasico and those who will help them via the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). Speaking about the big game, the man in charge of calling the shots will be Antonio Mateu Lahoz, while César Soto Grado will be responsible for the Video Assistant Referee. The main reason for Barcelona fans to worry is that their team have only been able to beat Real Madrid once when Lahoz has been calling the shots. That game took place on March 22, 2015, with Barcelona taking home the win with a 2-1 score thanks to Luis Suárez and Jeremy Mathieu's goals.
