About Los Angeles FC
Los Angeles Football Club, commonly known as LAFC, is an American professional soccer club based in Los Angeles. The team, which is nicknamed “The Black and Gold” was founded in 2014 and started playing in 2018. All its home games are played at BMO Stadium, a 22,000-seater venue that also serves as the home base for NWSL side Angel City.
The club has several owners, including celebrities such as American actor Will Ferrell, who serves as a part-owner. Film producer Peter Guber serves as LAFC’s executive chairman, and despite being one of Major League Soccer’s newer clubs, the team has already won several titles. In 2019, it won the Supporters’ Shield and in 2020 as well as in 2023, it finished as runners-up in the CONCACAF Champions League.
LAFC’s biggest rivals is fellow Los Angeles-based club Los Angeles Galaxy, against whom they play in the Los Angeles Derby each season. These matches are nicknamed “El Trafico” by some MLS fans in a bid to emulate the famed “El Clasico” clashes starring global powerhouses Barcelona and Real Madrid as well as a reference to the notoriously bad traffic that is commonplace in Los Angeles.
Thanks to a multi-year deal signed between Apple TV and Major League Soccer, fans in the USA, Canada, and multiple other locations can live-stream LAFC’s matches on a variety of devices. In addition, the club’s official website also offers streaming of key Los Angeles-related content, including match highlights, press conferences, and more.
