The Amsterdam Tournament was a pre-season invitational competition held in none other than Amsterdam, Netherlands. The event, hosted by Eredivisie giants Ajax, began in 1975 as the Amsterdam 700 Tournament. The competition first stopped in 1992 before making a return in 1999. It eventually got abolished in 2009. Several teams from across the globe participated in the Amsterdam Tournament during its run, including Brazil’s Atlético Mineiro, England’s Arsenal, Italy’s Inter Milan and Roma, Belgium’s Molenbeek, fellow Dutch sides AZ and Feyenoord, and even the Romanian national team.
