Marcelo Bielsa's side denied the defending champions and all-important three points in Monday night's league clash.

Leeds United denied Liverpool a place in the top four of the Premier League by scoring a late equaliser in Monday night's clash. The hosts earned a deserving point after Diego Llorente headed home a corner in the 87th-minute, preventing the Reds from climbing into a Champions League place for next season. 

Given the overwhelming sentiment brought forth by the plan for the European Super League plans, Leeds found themselves having a little edge over the defending champions who had been named as one of the six Premier League teams to join the elite league. Prior to kick-off, fans of the and as well as those of other clubs converged outside Elland Road to stage a protest where Liverpool shirts were burned. A plane displaying an anti-Super League message also flew over the stadium before kick-off.

Nevertheless, Marcelo Bielsa's men were unable to capitalize on the tension surround their opponents and stamp their dominance. Relatively, Leeds are now seven points away from a Europa League place and have already consolidated their involvement in next season's Premier League despite gaining promotion last season.
