Bundesliga officers have revealed the steps the league will take to prevent further problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
In a press release issued earlier today, the league stated that all 18 Bundesliga teams will be placed in strict quarantine to avoid more matches from being postponed. This measures were implemented after Hertha Berlin were forced to postpone three games due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the team.
The German Football League confirmed that the first step of this plan will begin on May 2, where players and staff will only be allowed to leave their homes for training and for playing games. Then, on May 12, all players will move into "biosecure training bubbles", which will force them to stay at a designated facility. Players will only leave said facility when they travel to play games.
"It is the clubs' responsibility to ensure that players, coaches and training staff come into contact with no one but each other during the stated period. All requirements of the medical and hygiene-related concept remain unchanged," the document states.
German Football League officers also revealed that doctors that need to leave the "bubble" during the quarantine period will be forced to take and antigen test before they are allowed back in.
These rules will also be applied to all 2. Bundesliga teams, in order to fulfill the league's plans as for when the season should end. With the European Football Championship right around the corner, the Bundesliga wants to avoid an outbreak within the league that could postpone the end of the season.
