Both teams from Jalisco have a legitimate shot of making it to the playoffs, but their chances would be hurt with a loss here.

One of the most intense rivalries in Mexican football will add one more chapter to it when Atlas and Guadalajara lock horns this Saturday. To make matters more interesting, both teams will try to keep their chances of making the liguilla alive, with Atlas still in contention for a straight spot in the finals, while Guadalajara may be forced to play the one-match playoff stage.

Atlas will get to this game in seventh place after Friday's results that involved León and Puebla. Los Rojinegros have not been able to win any of their last two games, but a victory here would be the ultimate ego boost, as they have not been able to beat Chivas in a Clásico Tapatío since April 21, 2018. The red and black side are in prime position to end that woeful streak and confirm their chances in the playoff stage.

As for Chivas, Victor Vucetich's men have won two in a row, which propelled them to tenth place and gave them liguilla hopes. While making the top four seems far-fetched, earning a spot among the teams that will play the one-match playoffs is rather possible. All they have to do is win both of their remaining games to give themselves home-field advantage for the games mentioned earlier.

As we said before, Chivas will enter this game while on a five-game winning streak over Atlas. Guadalajara's last trip to Estadio Jalisco ended in a 2-1 win, where each team ended the game with ten men after red cards were shown to Chivas' Ernesto Vega and Atlas' Hugo Nervo.

Speaking about the coaches, Atlas' boss Diego Cocca will try to win his fourth game against Chivas while on the bench, as he won three previous matches in his previous jobs in Liga MX. On the other hand, "King Midas" Víctor Manuel Vucetich will face Atlas for the 17th time, with his record showing seven wins, seven losses, and two draws.
