In what should be a special game for the hosts, the Clásico Regio will be as hot as ever with one spot for the playoffs at stake.

The game that divides the Mexican state of Nuevo León is here, with Tigres and Monterrey ready to give fans what they have been waiting for with an epic match coming our way.

The game will feature two of the most competitive sides in Liga MX led by two veteran coaches. Added to what it could mean for both of them to win this game, there are a few things to keep under consideration if you support Tigres, Monterrey, or even if you are a casual fan just eager to have a good time watching a game.

On Tigres' side, this is set to be the last game for them with Ricardo Ferretti at the helm. Contract talks between the coach and the team's hierarchy went sideways and now, the most successful coach in La U's history will leave the team as soon as they are eliminated from the tournament. Not even the title will save Ferretti's job, and we will have to wait and see the effects of this decision on the long run.

As for Monterrey, this will be Javier Aguirre's first Clásico Regio, but that will not be the only milestone in the game for Los Rayados, as striker Rogelio Funes Mori could become the team's all-time top scorer if he finds the back of the net against Tigres. Added to that, a win here for the blue and white side could grant them a spot in the playoffs after Friday's results.

Tigres will want to win this one to keep their liguilla hopes alive, especially since they have lost two games at El Volcán in a row, which have hindered their chances of making it to the playoffs. To make matters worse, their goalless draw against Pumas last week left them in a complicated position, and a loss here could ultimately kick them out of the tournament despite shocking the world with a second-place finish in the FIFA Club World Cup less than three months ago.

This game will give Tigres a chance to extend their dominance over Monterrey. Los Rayados have not been able to win any of the last four editions of the Clásico Regio (one draw, three losses), and with their rivals in shambles, this seems like a proper opportunity for them to end that streak and win their first match against their bitter rivals since May 15, 2019.
