Manchester United will hope to add to their impressive away form when they travel to Elland Road to take on old rivals Leeds United.

Preview

An old rivalry will be rekindled on Sunday afternoon when Manchester United travel to Leeds for their 33rd Premier League game of the season. A lot of history exists between the two clubs and both will be eager to prove a point by getting the maximum points with the stakes higher at this point of the season.

Leeds have punched above their weight since returning to the competition earlier this season and are well placed to secure a spot in Europe should they secure some vital wins with about six games left of the season to play. Marcelo Bielsa's men are placed tenth and are seven points adrift of third-placed Chelsea.

They approach Sunday's game off the back of a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, a result which extended their current unbeaten run to five in the Premier League. At Elland Road, they have proved to be a tough opponent, losing only six of the 16 matches they've played at the venue thus far. Having fallen to a disappointing 6-2 defeat in the first meeting with the Red Devils, they will be eager to make amends and deny the visitors getting a double over them.

On the contrary, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are poised to consolidate their top-four status and keep up the pressure on league leaders Manchester City. The Red Devils are currently 11 points adrift of their crosstown rivals and are hoping that they somehow slip in their upcoming fixtures to afford them room to catch up successfully.

Outside the Premier League, a huge opportunity exists for the Old Trafford outfit to win silverware in the Europa League with the club set for a semifinal showdown with AS Roma. However, they will be required to beat Leeds on Sunday so as to take the confidence into that class. They approach the game in form after overcoming a scare at home to beat Burnley 3-1 in their previous league outing.

So far, United are also without defeat across their last five games, winning all the games played within that period. Bar the FA Cup defeat to Leicester, they are unbeaten in their last 19 matches across all competitions.

Team news

Leeds will take on Manchester United without skipper Liam Cooper as he is currently serving a suspension. Rodrigo and Adam Forshaw will be amiss through injury while the availability of Raphinha remains doubtful as he is currently down with a thigh problem.

For Manchester United, Phil Jones and Anthony Maritial are ruled out of the encounter. There is a boost in the side with Eric Bailly featuring in the side's training ahead of the game after a spell in the treatment room with an injury.
