The Bundesliga giants confirmed via an official statement that Julian Nagelsman will be replacing their sextuple-winning tactician.

It's official: Bayern Munich have found their new coach for next season. With Hansi Flick requesting to end his Allianz Arena contract, the Bundesliga giants were forced to search for his successor and have announced the man who will lead them from the 2021/22 campaign onwards. 

That man is none other than Julian Nagelsman, the young but highly-rated RB Leipzig tactician. The German top-flight champions-elect unveiled in an official statement that the 33-year-old will take over die Roten on 1 July 2021 on a five-year deal ahead of the upcoming season, signaling a new and exciting era in Munich.

"Julian Nagelsmann represents a new generation of coaches," club president Herbert Hainer said via the club's official website. 

"Despite his young age, he already has an impressive CV. We are convinced that with Julian Nagelsmann, we can continue the magnificent successes of recent years."

Bayern were forced into this search after Flick announced his desire to prematurely end his stay in Munich. After leading the European heavyweights to a historic sextuple, the 56-year-old revealed that he is ready for a new challenge.

The Allianz Arena higher-ups initially did not welcome this move as Flick went public with his resignation. However, they have since accepted his decision and have issued a tribute to the outing tactician, who now appears destined to replace Joachim Low as the German national team boss after the upcoming Euros.

"I would like to express my thanks to Hansi Flick on behalf of FC Bayern," Hainer added. "He took over our team at a difficult time in 2019 and went on to win six trophies, with the seventh hopefully to follow. He will always have a place in FC Bayern's history books. We wish him all the best for his future."

Nagelsmann, who became the youngest coach in Bundesliga history when he took over Hoffenheim in 2016 at the age of 28, arrived at RB Leipzig in 2019. In his first full season in charge, he led Die Roten Bullen to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, where they lost to PSG, and a third-place finish in the German top-flight.

As a result, prying the young tactician away from RB Leipzig was never going to be easy. In fact, it is being widely reported that Bayern were forced to pay $30M in compensation.

"I have never made a secret of the fact I am excited about the coaching position at Bayern Munich and that I would be happy to take on this job if this unique opportunity should arise," Nagelsmann said about his new job. However, the 33-year-old stressed that he will not take his foot off the gas in his final few months at the Red Bull Arena as Nkunku and Co. look to finish the season as strongly as possible.

"It's still too early to say goodbye and otherwise talk about memories, because I'm not finished here in Leipzig," Julian added.

"My mission will end in the summer, but until then it will continue at full throttle. We have grown into a sworn bunch that finally want a title."
