Marseille will go head-to-head with Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 of this season's French Cup.

Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain will square off in the Coupe de France's round of 16 on Wednesday night at the Orange Velodrome in the second Le Classique of the season. Both clubs will fancy their chances of progressing to the next stage of the competition and will be eager to draw inspiration from their respective forms to get a favorable outcome.

Over the weekend, Marseille's recent winning streak came to an end. Having successfully put together an impressive 10-game unbeaten run across all competitions, Les Phocéens picked up in a disappointing 3-1 against Nice on Saturday.

Needless to say, Marseille head coach Igor Tudor is pretty conversant with overcoming challenges and, on Wednesday, he will be required to draw out his magic wand considering the opponent they face. While it is often a heated affair between the two clubs, he will hope that his men have enough firepower in them to condemn the visitors to another early exit in successive seasons.

Last year, PSG were knocked out of the Coupe de France at the same stage of the competition by Nice and will be eyeing a different feat this time around. Les Parisiens are in the running to secure an unprecedented 15th title but will need to deal with the adversity they are confronted with before sailing through.

PSG will come into the mid-week affair on the back of 3-1 comeback win over Toulouse over the weekend. So far, they have been decent in their last eight outings, as they have only been on the losing side on just one occasion. Against this backdrop, they should be the favorite for the upcoming encounter, and may well be motivated enough to secure passage into the quarter-finals.
