Leicester suffered heartbreak on the final day while Arsenal missed out on Europe altogether despite beating Brighton 2-0.

The 2020/21 Premier League campaign has finally come to a wrap. All 10 games in the 38th and final Matchday of the English top-flight campaign took place on Sunday, simultaneously kicking off at 10 a.m. ET. For many, the curtain closer brought joy. For others, heartbreak ensued. Man City beat Everton 5-0, with Aguero grabbing a brace, but this victory did not mean much as the Cityzens had already secured the title. Sadio Mane's two-goal haul saw Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 2-0 to finish in third, which is quite a feat given their horrendous record with injuries this term. Chelsea lost 2-1 on the final day against Aston Villa but were spared the blushes as Leicester failed to capitalize, losing 4-2 at home to Tottenham. Elsewhere, Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0 but that result was not enough to see them qualify for any European competition. Here's everything you need to know about the final round of this Premier League season.

Top headlines from the final day of the 2020/21 Premier League season

  • Sergio Aguero played his final Premier League game for Man City, scoring a brace along the way. Those goals, his 183rd and 184th in the league, saw him surpass Man United's Wayne Rooney (183 for the Red Devils) as the player with the most English EPL goals for a single club.

  • Harry Kane won the Golden Boot for the third time in his career, becoming one of only three players to have won this award three or more times in the Premier League, the other two being Alan Shearer (3) and Thierry Henry (4).

  • Not only did Kane win the Golden Boot, but he also finished the Premier League season as the top assister, becoming the first player since Andy Cole in 1993-94 to pull off this feat.

  • Everton's 5-0 loss to Man City was Carlo Ancelotti's heaviest ever defeat.

  • Sadio Mane scored both goals in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, which was the eighth game in a row in which he netted against the Eagles. This is the first time one player scored in eight consecutive fixtures against a single club since Robin van Persie against Stoke.

  • Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0 on the final day, with both goals coming courtesy of Nicolas Pepe. As a result, he became the Gunners player with the most goal involvement across all competitions, netting 15 and assisting another five.

  • Joe Willock continued his excellent goalscoring form for Newcastle, netting the opener in the 2-0 victory over Fulham. This was the seventh consecutive EPL appearance in which the Englishman found the back of the net, becoming the first player since Alan Shearer to pull this off with the Magpies.

  • Man United's 2-1 win at Wolves on the final day means they completed the entire English top-flight season without losing a single away game (P19 W12 D7). They are only the fourth team in English history to pull off this feat, following in the footsteps of Preston (1888-89), Arsenal (2001-02) and Arsenal again (2003-04).
