Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has denied reports that he is seeking a new contract worth $616,000 (£500,000) per week. The English forward's current contract with the club expires in 2024, with a one-year extension triggered earlier this season.
Negotiations are ongoing for a long-term deal, but Rashford is said to be focusing on finishing the season before considering renewal talks and keeping an eye on the club's ownership situation. Nevertheless, speculation had arisen that he could be considering a move to another club, with reports earlier this week suggesting that he had received a mega-offer from Paris Saint-Germain. The offer which was apparently in the region of $500,000-per-week has since been turned down by the Englishman.
On Wednesday, a news article by the Daily Star - which has since been deleted - claimed that Rashford was holding out for a new contract from Manchester United worth over $616,000-a-week. However, the player has since rejected these claims, labelling it as "complete nonsense".
In a statement on his social media platforms, Rashford wrote: "Just before this one starts to do the rounds! It's complete nonsense. The club and myself have been respectful to one another, and that's how it will remain. My focus is purely on finishing as well as possible in the league and winning trophies."
Despite withdrawing from England's Euro 2024 qualification double-header against Italy and Ukraine due to a knock picked up during United's FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham, Rashford has returned to training with Ten Hag's side ahead of their upcoming Premier League game against Newcastle.
