Nati will be looking to secure progression to the round of 16 on the final round of the group stages. Here's a preview of Switzerland vs Turkey.

Preview

The third and final matchday of the UEFA Euro 2020 group stage commences this Sunday with two interesting fixtures, with Switzerland vs Turkey being one of those intriguing ties. These two nations will lock horns at 12 p.m. ET at the Bakı Olimpiya Stadionu in Baku in a match that could decide who moves on to the last 16 and who will be sent packing.

Neither of these two sides are in the driving seat for qualification. Nati boast only a single point after two games while Ay-Yıldızlılar boast zero to their name. However, the odds of Xhaka and Co. making the next round are higher.

The Swiss began their campaign with a clash against Wales, a game which their fans probably felt they should have won. An impressive display from Breel Embolo saw Vladimir Petković's break the deadlock against the Dragons, but unfortunately, that lead only lasted less than 30 minutes, with Kieffer Moore equalizing half-an-hour later.

Their second fixture saw Switzerland take on high-flying Italy, and that's when everything unraveled for Xhaka and Co. The European underdogs were brushed aside with ease, losing 3-0 thanks to a brace from Locatelli and a late strike from Ciro Immobile, leaving them with only a single point heading into the final round.

Things are worse for Turkey, with Ay-Yıldızlılar suffering defeats in their first two games. Their opening day showdown with the Azzurri ended in 3-0 loss while their round two encounter with Wales brought about a 1-0 slip-up.

The top four third-placed teams will be granted spots in the round of 16, meaning all hope is not lost yet for the Swiss and the Turks. However, in the case of Calhanoglu and Co, it looks like three points may not suffice. It's a different story in the case of Petkovic's side as a four-point tally, which they could achieve on Sunday, could earn them a runners-up finish.

However, for that to occur, Xhaka and Co. would need the permutations to go their way. First, a victory over Turkey is a must. After that, they must hope Wales suffer a huge defeat against Italy in order to overturn the goal difference, with the Dragons boasting a +2 tally while Nati are on -3.

Team news

Switzerland: Petkovic will likely name an identical or similar lineup to the one he fielded in their two previous matches. Denis Zakaria could be introduced if a shake-up is required, but expect the likes of Xhaka, Shaqiri, Embolo, and Freuler to remain in the starting XI.

Turkey: Senol Gunes has no injury concerns, but given their abysmal displays, he will likely make a few changes in order to rescue their Euro 2020 campaign. Ayhan and Kahveci could return to the lineup as Ay-Yıldızlılar go in search of not only their first point(s), but also their first goal.

Predicted line-ups

Switzerland: Sommer; Elvedi, Schär, Akanji; Mbabu, Freuler, Xhaka, Rodríguez; Shaqiri; Embolo, Gavranović

Turkey: Uğurcan Çakır; Zeki Çelik, Merih Demiral, Çağlar Söyüncü, Mert Müldür; Kaan Ayhan, İrfan Can Kahveci, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Cengiz Ünder, İbrahim Dervişoğlu; Burak Yılmaz
