Familiar opponents England and Denmark will square off for a coveted spot in the Euro 2020 finals as they lock horns at Wembley on Wednesday, July 7th.

Both England and Denmark will be vying for a coveted spot in this summer's Euro 2020 tournament as the second of two semi-finals gets underway on Wednesday at Wembley stadium. The Three Lions come into this tie having recorded a well-deserved and resounding 4-0 victory over Ukraine, during which they really hardly had to get out of second gear.

Prior to the win, Gareth Southgate's side had been criticised for not setting the pitch alight, as they scored just twice during their group stage campaign. However, since getting to the knockout rounds, England have been steadily showing why they deserve to be considered as serious contenders, notably recording a 2-0 win over Germany to end years of heartbreak against die Mannschaft.

Notably, the 4-0 win against Ukraine is the highest ever margin recorded for England in this competition. To date, what also stands out about Gareth Southgate's side is their mean defense. The Three Lions have yet to concede a single goal so far in this competition, and if they can shut out Denmark, it will mark the first time any team have successfully recorded six clean sheets.

Meanwhile, Denmark have been the story of the tournament. Kasper Hjulmand's men suffered a nightmare start after star man Christian Eriksen's collapse on the pitch. Despite the huge blow to their morale and losing their first two group stage games, the Danish Dynamite roared to life, thrashing Russia 4-1 to book their ticket to the round of 16. Denmark made history in doing so, by becoming the first team to lose their first two matches and still secure a spot in the knockout rounds.

Once into the round of 16, Denmark, like England, have been simply outstanding. They put four past Wales and successfully shackled star man Gareth Bale throughout, with the Real Madrid and Tottenham ace not having any impact on the match. And despite the Czech Republic desperately trying to thwart them, Denmark held their resolve to beat them 2-1 and book their first semi-finals appearance since 1992.

For those not up to date on football history, 1992 also happens to be the year that Denmark won their first - and only to date - Euro title. Will this bode well for the Scandinavian nation? Or will England continue their steady march towards the final, set to be staged in their own backyard?

England: It'll be interesting to see if Jadon Sancho, who recently secured a big money move to Manchester United gets to start here. Meanwhile teenager Bukayo Saka, along with Aston Villa star Jack Grealish, will hope to return to the fold for this crunch clash.

Denmark: Skipper Simon Kjaer has reportedly shaken off an injury and should be fit to feature in Hjulmand's starting XI. Yussuf Poulsen may be given a run-out after coming off the bench during Denmark's 2-1 win over the Czech Republic.
