The left-back landed a fresh record by putting the Three Lions in front in the early minutes of Sunday's final.

England full-back Luke Shaw has entered the history books of the European Championship for scoring under just two minutes after kick-off in Sunday's final between Italy and England. The 25-year-old defender put the latter in the driver's seat with a sensational half-volley to outrightly own the record as the scorer of the fastest goal in the final of the competition.

In their pursuit to win a trophy for the first time in 55 years, England were poised to make a difference right from the onset despite the challenge presented by Italy. The Three Lions got off to an unbelievable start with a brilliant delivery from Kieran Trippier to the far-post falling in the path of Shaw. The Manchester United star had covered a lot of ground from his position on the left into the Azzurri penalty box, striking the ball right on the bounce to take the lead.

Watch:

Shaw's goal - his first for the England national team - came after just 1 minute and 57 seconds, becoming the fastest-ever to have been scored in the final of the Euros. It is the fifth fastest-ever scored in the history of the tournament and the third fastest at Euro 2020.
