El Tri enter this clash forced to win if they want to honor their status as favorites to win the tournament. Let’s see if Los Catrachos have something to say about that.

Mexico and Honduras will play the stellar match of the evening in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Quarter-finals. The road to this game for both teams was a bit bumpy, but now that they made it to this stage, they will try to make it count and reach the semis.

Mexico enter this match after winning two of their three games in the group stage. The other one ended in an unexpected draw against Trinidad and Tobago, which also left El Tri without Hirving Lozano, one of their best footballers. Due to Lozano's injury, Mexico were allowed to call up winger Rodolfo Pizarro as a replacement.

Honduras will enter this clash after finishing second in Group D. Fabian Coito's men had started the competition with two wins, but they lost to Qatar in their final group stage match. Hence, the team was forced to face Mexico in the first KO stage game.

Both teams have a full squad to choose from, with the only exception of El Tri's Jesus Corona, who is a fitness concern for Gerardo Martino. The rest of Mexico and Honduras' footballers have been ruled fit to play.

This will be the 37th game between Mexico and Honduras across all competitions. Out of those, Mexico has won 20 games, with only seven going Honduras' way. The last match between these teams ended in a goalless draw just over a month ago.
