The midfielder smashed home an outrageous volley to help his side in the night's encounter.

More often than not top performances in the pre-season hardly become a prelude for better things to come but for Andreas Pereira, he will hope that this year will finally be his year should he be given the opportunity at Manchester United. The 25-year-old midfielder generated a lot of buzz on social media on Wednesday night after scoring a sensational volley in the friendly clash with Brentford.

United were ushered into the drivers seat by young Anthony Elanga who continued his fine form in the pre-season by scoring in consecutive games. However, his 12th-minute volleyed strike did not last for long with Shandon Baptiste equalizing for The Bees in the 20th minute.

While the first half was a pretty entertaining, the second half saw the production of one of the best goals fans will most likely see all season long. It all started with a swift counter attack which saw Jesse Lingard's shot at goal being saved by Brentford goalkeeper David Raya. The loose ball was then headed out of the visitors penalty area but was far away from safety.

Before landing after its initial flight, Pereira stepped up and expertly volleyed the ball into the top corner, hitting the underside of the crossbar before crossing the line for goal to spark euphoria among the 30,000 fans who had graced Old Trafford for the game. The celebrations were however cut short as Bryan Mbeumo will draw the game level with a strike in the 78th minute.
