FA WSL Matchday 2 action started with West Ham United and Aston Villa facing off at Chigwell Construction Stadium on Friday.

However, midfielder Remi Allen rose to the occasion again after scoring a game-winner in her Aston Villa debut last week against Leicester City. The 30-year-old scored an equalizer in added time, earning her new club one point.
Then came the four league games on Saturday. Giants Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all won their matches against Everton, Leicester City and Reading. However, the biggest surprise was Brighton & Hove Albion's 5-0 win over Birmingham City.
The Seagulls are carrying over the fine form they showcased in the 2020-21 season, where they finished in 6th place, to this campaign. Brighton is at the top of the WSL table with six points after two games and a goal differential of +7. Forward Inessa Kaagman leads the team in goal contributions with two goals from the penalty spot and an assist.
Lastly, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester City 2-1 on Sunday. As a result, the Spurs celebrated their first competitive win against a top-four side – Arsenal, Chelsea, Man. City, Man. Utd – in their history.
Man. City's loss against the Spurs was their second disappointing result last week, having failed to qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League group stages after a 2-1 loss in aggregate against Real Madrid.

FA WSL football was played at King Power Stadium for the first time when Manchester United defeated Leicester City 3-1 on Saturday. A total of 4,473 fans were in attendance.
Tottenham's Kerys Harrop made her 150th Barclays FA WSL appearance in the 2-1 win against Manchester City. The 30-year-old defender was subbed on for center-back Shelina Zadorsky in added time.
