The result of the Bayer-Bayern clash has seen some changes in the league table, as many had expected.

This past round saw a highly anticipated clash between the Bundesliga's top two sides, specifically, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen unfold. Unfortunately for many fans and neutrals alike, it wasn't the tense tussle many had expected, but rather all one way traffic.

Here's all you need to know following this weekend's Bundesliga action.

Bayern again dominating: The tie featuring Leverkusen and Bayern ended up being rather disappointing for many fans and neutrals. Unless, if of course, one is a Bayern fan! The Bavarian titans in typical ruthless fashion crushed their opponents, scoring five goals in the first half to put the game to bed even before it started. Although Leverkusen did manage to score in the second half, it was nothing but a consolation prize. With 29 goals from just eight matches (!) Bayern have also equalled a very impressive record from the 1976/77 season.

Wolfsburg's struggles continue: Things just don't seem to be going well for Wolfsburg at the moment. Mark van Bommel's side made a flying start to the season, but since then, it's all gone horribly awry. They've picked up just one point from their last four games and are on a three game losing streak.

Dortmund's home comforts: Die Schwarzgelben might have failed to fired during the Borussen Derby a few weeks ago, but it seems they're firmly back on track. Dortmund recorded a 3-1 home win over Mainz, and doing so, new manager Marco Rose has written his name in the history books as the first coach to win all of his first five home matches.

Top Bundesliga matches: October 22 - October 24, 2021

Here are some crunch clashes you won't want to miss in the upcoming round:

Arminia Bielefeld vs Borussia Dortmund: Despite some wobbles, Dortmund have climbed into second spot and are just one point behind Bayern Munich. Die Schwarzgelben naturally will be looking to pick up all three points and hope that die Roten have a bad day on the pitch and slip up against Hoffenheim.

Bayern München vs Hoffenheim: Although Dortmund are just one point behind the league leaders and will certainly hope Bayern slip up, they probably shouldn't hold their breath. Julian Naglesmann's side come into this next tie having crushed Leverkusen 5-1, and although Bayern did end up losing 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt just before the international hiatus, it's hard to see them allowing that to happen this time around, especially as they're playing at home.

Wolfsburg vs Freiburg: It's been a downward spiral for Wolfsburg lately, which is a disappointing turn of events considering how strongly they started the season. Meanwhile, Freiburg have been having a very impressive campaign to date, and are currently the only team who have yet to lose a game in the league so far this season.

Köln vs Bayer Leverkusen: How will Leverkusen recover from their humiliating 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich last round? We'll find out this weekend when die Werkself travel to face Köln, who have been solid enough this season and despite a recenty loss, presently sit in eighth spot.
