With the team's inability to hire a suitable replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the team's board could be considering alternative options to finish the season.

Manchester United seem to be running out of options to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Mauricio Pochettino seemingly not interested in taking the job and with Zinedine Zidane refusing to make the trip to England. Hence, the team's hierarchy would be willing to get through the rest of the season with an interim coach...but that does not mean it will be a subpar option.

According to a report by The Guardian, Manchester United has opened talks to hire none other than former Athletic Club and Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde to take the interim job at Old Trafford. Valverde, who was sacked by Los Blaugranas in 2020, would be interested in taking the job until the end of the season as per the wishes of Manchester United's board.

Added to the team and the coach's interest, the tactician has reportedly begun the search for reinforcements in an attempt to turn things around for the Red Devils if he were the one to lead the project from now on.

Manchester United's interest to hire Valverde would come from his experience as Barcelona's coach, where he won two league titles, one Copa del Rey and one Spanish Super Cup. Nevertheless, only time will tell if negotiations between the club and the boss continue beyond their current point.
