The Real Madrid icon has done what seemed impossible a few months back: support Barcelona legend Leo for the Ballon d'Or!

If the sight of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos donning the same jersey wasn't strange enough, the Spanish center-back has now taken things a step further by doing the unfathomable: backing La Pulga to win the Ballon d'Or.

For a long time, the pair were bitter rivals on the pitch, with the 2010 World Cup winner representing Real Madrid and the Argentine playing for Barcelona. Who can forget about all their heated encounters in El Clasico!

However, the iconic defender and attacker became teammates over the summer, with both leaving the Bernabeu and the Camp Nou, respectively, as free agents to join PSG. Since then, fans had been eagerly anticipating the day the two former rivals would share the pitch in Ligue 1.

That finally occurred on Sunday, with Ramos making his debut for Les Parisiens after overcoming his injury nightmare. The 35-year-old started alongside Marquinhos in Pochettino's back four while Leo led the line alongside Mbappe, Neymar, and Di Maria.

The pair guided the Ligue 1 leaders to a 3-1 victory, with Messi setting up all three goals. After the game, Ramos spoke to the media and opened up about sharing a dressing room with the Copa America winner. However, his most eye-catching words came when asked if Leo should win the Ballon d'Or, which will be awarded in today's highly-anticipated gala.

"I see Leo very well here at PSG, he is a very important player in the team", the defender told ESPN.

"He is a unique player and it is a privilege to have in the team.

"(Is Leo your favorite for tomorrow's Ballon d'Or?) Yes, I will always defend my teammates.

"And I wish him all the luck in the world."

While Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi's greatest footballing rival, isn't considered a favorite for the Ballon d'Or, Ramos' comments could anger Real Madrid fans as Los Blancos have a horse in the race in the form of Karim Benzema. The Frenchman has been nothing short of excellent, scoring several goals, helping the Spanish giants top the Liga table while guiding France to the UEFA Nations League title.

Lewandowski is another shout as the Bayern Munich sensation has scored the most goals this year. Jorginho, Kante, and Salah are also in the mix, meaning Messi will not get an easy run at this year's Ballon d'Or prize.
