The Polish ace has been involved in conversations regarding a potential exit from the club, with some sources claiming a deal could be in place with Barcelona.

The transfer saga involving Robert Lewandowski has taken another turn. Despite initial claims by Bayern execs about their desire to keep the Polish footballer around, the team has reportedly taken the necessary steps to earn a profit in case the striker decides to leave the club.

According to a report by German magazine Kicker, Lewandowski is set to leave the club this summer in order to give something back to Bayern. Negotiations to extend his deal have hit a roadblock, and it seems that the Bavarians are ready to part ways with the legendary goalscorer, and all they need to let him go is to find a team that meets their €40M asking price (around $43M).

Lewandowski is one of three players over the age of 30 that will see their contracts expiring next season, with the other two being Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer. The two German players have agreed to have their contracts extended for one year, but Lewandowski was pushing to earn a two-year extension, which has been the main cause for his contract extension talks to fail.

Now, the striker could decide to leave the club for a lower wage (such as the one reportedly offered to him by Barcelona) or he could also try to see the end of his deal with the Bavarians and join whichever team he chooses on a free transfer once the 2022-23 season comes to an end.

Either way, if the report by Kicker is true, Lewandowski could be one of the biggest names of the upcoming transfer window, especially since the footballer could become an ambassador for his potential new team in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
