The Citizens are looking to bolster their left back position with the signing of the Spaniard.

Premier League club Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a summer move for former Barcelona and Getafe full-back Marc Cucurella. The 23-year-old defender has been identified as the ideal player to occupy the left-back position that has been vacant for the most part of this season.

Owning to the suspension of Benjamin Mendy earlier this season, Man City have struggled to properly man their left back position. As a result, they have resorted to using the versatile Joao Cancelo in the position and the Portuguese, who ranks among the club's best players of the season, has featured their 31 times across all competitions this season. In the meantime, Oleksandr Zinchenko has also been used as the second-choice option for the left-back position.

With the summer transfer window just around the corner, City are eager to bolster their ranks. The arrival of Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland for next season is no secret and the Premier League's defending champions are said to be looking at adding Marc Cucurella to their books. The defender, who was at Barca between 2012 and 2017, joined Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2021 from Getafe for a reported fee of $19.3M. His current contract at the club expires in the summer of 2026 but, according to the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola is convinced about his talent and what he could offer his side.

Last week, Cucurella scored his first goal in the Premier League when his Brighton side hit the Red Devils for four at the Amex Stadium. It is speculated that he will cost Man City a little over $34M if they are to bring him to the Etihad for next season. Meanwhile, Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the player's situation as well.
