The Red Devils are close to completing their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly accelerated talks to sign Feyenoord left back Tyrell Malacia for a fee of $15.4M (€15M). The player was said to be on his way to Olympique Lyon in the French Ligue 1 but the move has stalled after his club accepted the offer from the Red Devils.

On Tuesday, Feyenoord director Frank Arnesen confirmed United's late attempt to edge Lyon to the signing of the young Dutch full-back. Speaking to 1908NL, he revealed that his club had accepted a bid from the Premier League giants and move should be completed should the player's camp give the green light.

"The agreement with Man United is there," he said. "We are now waiting for Tyrell. If he says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is imminent".

Malacia has the same agent as De Jong, and Manchester United have stated that they want both players. A deal for the latter is close after reports emerged from Spain that Barcelona and the Red Devils had reached a compromise on the fee. For the Feyenoord full-back, Erik ten Hag had reportedly scouted him heavily during his time as Ajax head coach, appreciating his speed, positional awareness, high interception rate, and ability to attack space.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, United's proposal to Feyenoord for Tyrell Malacia was $15.4M (€15M) guaranteed fee plus add-ons. On the contrary, Lyon had reached a verbal agreement for $12.4M (€12M) plus $3.4M (€3M) add-ons. Both clubs are now waiting on the player to make a choice on his preferred destination although Manchester United are believed to be favourites in the race.
