Soccer fans in the United States will be in for a treat on Wednesday, when the traditional MLS All-Star game takes place for the 15th time under the current format and for the 24th time ever.[
This time, the MLS All-Stars will lock horns against Atlético Madrid. Los Colchoneros will become the 13th different European team to play this game, with only Chelsea and Manchester United playing it twice before. The only Spanish side to play this game previously was none other than Real Madrid, who would go on to beat the All-Star team in a penalty shootout back in 2017.
The balance between the MLS All-Stars and European teams is quite level, as all-star cast has won eight games under the current format. On the other hand, teams from Europe have claimed the victory seven times, including the two most recent clashes. Real Madrid and Juventus were the teams that took home the win in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
This is the MLS' All-Star Team fans elected to play against Atlético this year.

On the other hand, Atlético gets to this game on a high, following their wins against Chivas and most notably, Real Madrid, in the International Champions Cup. Los Colchoneros defeated the Mexican side after penalties, but their impressive 7-3 win against Los Blancos will be something no Atlético fan will forget soon. This will be the fourth friendly for Simeone's game this summer, and they have two more scheduled before the start of La Liga.
