The 26-year-old has been slapped with additional breaches of betting rules by English football's governing body.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been charged by the English FA with further 30 breaches of betting rules. The England international who was charged in November with 232 alleged breaches of betting rules has had 30 more breaches levelled against him.

Toney has so far had an stellar campaign with Brentford in the 2022/2023 season, scoring 10 goals in 14 appearances for the club. Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the striker was a contender for England's World Cup squad, after being called up for the recent Nations League matches. However, he was unable to fulfil the dream of playing for the Three Lions on the biggest stage as he was omitted when Gareth Southgate named his final 26-man squad.

On Tuesday, a statement by the FA revealed that 30 more breaches by Toney have been found in addition to the previous charge levelled against him in November. The statement reads as follows: "Ivan Toney has been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of the FA's betting rules.

"In addition to the previous charge, it is alleged that the Brentford FC forward breached FA rule E8 a further 30 times between 14 March 2017 and 18 February 2019. "Ivan Toney has until Wednesday 4 January 2023 to provide a response."

As things stand, Toney faces a lengthy ban if the allegations are proven right. In the meantime, Brentford have issued a statement in response to the FA's proclamations. "The FA have informed Brentford FC that Ivan Toney has been charged in relation to additional alleged breaches of their betting rules.

"Our private discussions with Ivan and his legal representatives on this matter continue. Ivan has until Wednesday 4 January 2023 to provide a response.

"We will make no further comment at this stage."
